The Listing Assignments: L4
The topic for this listing assignment is "My Communication Progress." Since the beginning of this semester, what communication progress have you made?
The assignment is to write a total of 5 items, each expressing one way in which you have made communication progress since the semester began. Each item should consist of at least one complete sentence, and there is no maximum length for an item. Be sure to follow all of the General Instructions regarding formatting your assignment.
"I have" usually indicates progress, and you may use that construction one time. The words "more," "better," "now" and "less" all indicate progress, and you may use those words as many times as you'd like. Remember, write about progress you have made, not progress you haven't made.
"I have lost 10 pounds" is in fact a statement of progress -- at least, if you're dieting, it is! What, however, does it have to do with communication?
"At the beginning of the semester, I couldn't speak in sign language, but now I can" is in fact a statement of communication progress. If you write that, you'll get credit for it. If, however, you also write "I have learned to speak Spanish," that's the same type of progress, not a different type.
If, the day before the assignment is due, you haven't yet come up with 5 different examples of communication progress you've made, don't make more up: make more progress! Remember, in the second half of the semester, lying is not appropriate!
