The Conferences

• One of the requirements of your section of SPC-101 is that you meet one-on-one, face-to-face with me a minimum of three times over the course of the semester. Each of these conferences should last approximately five minutes — although at your request they can certainly be longer!

• If you have things you'd like to discuss with me, the conferences are a good opportunity for us to do so. If you'd like me to go over a homework assignment with you before its due date, we can do that. If there's nothing in particular you want to discuss, then I'll probably just ask you some questions, and you can either answer them or tell me to mind my own business....

• Our first conference should happen sometime before the end of the third week of the semester. Our second conference should happen between Week 4 and the middle of the semester. Our third conference should happen during the second half of the semester, but before the due date for the SASG assignment. Each of these conferences you attend will earn you 2 points, so a total of 6 conference points are possible. If you miss a conference for any reason, you won't earn those 2 points, but you can still earn points for the other conferences.

• Conferences will happen in my office during my office hours. No appointment is necessary — just stop by. If I'm with another student, you may either wait for me or come back another time.

• If my office hours are inconvenient for you, I may be available to meet with you at other times. You can ask me about that before or after class, or by phone or email, and, if it's possible for me to accommodate you, I will.
