| On June 8, 2007, I drove up to Columbia, MD, for the Columbia Festival of the Arts. The warmup band, Junkyard Saints, played terrific zydeco-flavored rock, and then the roadies set up for Gaelic Storm — and the lightning started flashing. The show was ultimately cancelled, dammit, but not before I had my picture taken with Patrick Murphy, Ryan, some woman who I think might be the fiddler who's replaced Ellery, and Pete Purvis. I also called Becca, who was out in Arizona for the first half of her summer break, and put her on the phone with Ryan — after which she acknowledged, "Okay, that was pretty cool." (Steve Twigger's not in this picture, but I got another one of just the two of us.) |
