Mid-August, my sister Laura flew from Florida to Chicago to visit her daughter, my niece Alia, who's attending art school there. On August 15, we met in Galena for a an afternoon and evening together — including a wonderful dinner at my new favorite American restaurant Fritz and Frites. (Order the poulet roti. Trust me.)
