Last August, during my first week in the Cedarloo area, I lucked across live music in Overman Park in Cedar Falls and heard Bob Dorr and the Blue Band for the first time. Bob (at the microphone) and Jeff Peterson (far right) have been playing together since 1981, with other musicians moving in and out of the band over the years. They do lots of '60s and '70s covers and a wealth of fabulous originals (including such favorites as "Hang Tough," "Lost and Found," and "Elvis in Paraguay"), and in the five months since my arrival I've been able to catch them half a dozen or more times — including this January 2 "First Friday" gig at the Hub, on Main Street in CF.
